The Census and Statistics Department (C&SD) is the main provider of official statistics in Hong Kong and is committed to provide adequate, relevant, reliable and timely statistics to facilitate research, discussion, planning and decision making within the government and in the community. The C&SD undertakes to ensure that statistics are disseminated in accordance with scientific principles, professional ethics and international standards and in a user-friendly manner.

A number of C&SD services are provided through this ESD portal. Through the ESD portal, users can conveniently access "Frequently Asked Statistics" on main findings of statistical collections in various social and economic areas which are available freely at the C&SD Website. Users can download statistical publications and tables free of charge and order print version of publications at the Statistical Bookstore, Hong Kong which is hosted on the ESD portal.
