The Laws of Hong Kong database is now available free of charge at the Bilingual Laws Information System (BLIS) of the Department of Justice. It contains all Hong Kong ordinances and subsidiary legislation in both Chinese and English. Its advanced searching functionalities and subject indexes enable users to look up statute laws conveniently. When a provision in the laws is amended, a pencil sign ( ) is inserted against that provision on the day following the day the amendment comes into operation. The text of the amendment will be inserted within the next 3 weeks. The database also includes the Basic Law, national laws applicable to the HKSAR and bilingual glossaries of legal terms.
