Standard Chartered also established its "Seeing is Believing" charity campaign in 2004, with the aim of collecting funds to provide medical facilities to restore 1 million eyesights in developing countries.

Marathon 101 School Programme Makes A Difference

Standard Chartered Hong Kong's groundbreaking Marathon 101 Education Programme took another step forward in October when the inspirational story of blind Kenyan runner Henry Wanyoike was shared with more than 120 local schoolchildren.

Wanyoike, the remarkable winner of the half-marathon in Hong Kong in 2004, was a guest speaker at the second module of the Community Awareness/Volunteer Programme at the Hong Kong Society for the Blind. The five-module programme is the extra-curricular element of the Marathon 101 Education Programme, which also includes innovative classroom-based student learning packs and a Hong Kong-wide art competition.
